Jul 23, 2021 Alankit Team FasTAG

The introduction of FASTag - easy-to-use RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag is fixed on the windscreen of the vehicle screen and enables automatic deduction of toll charges when a vehicle passes through a toll plaza. There are different ways to buy FASTag online without any hassle.

How do I add money to my existing FASTag?

The Indian Government has made easy provisions for FASTag recharge online. Let’s take a look at how you can add money to your existing FASTag:

For bank specific FASTag, a user can recharge FASTag online by visiting the respective bank website. On submitting user credentials, a user can add money to FASTag by recharging via net banking, UPI, and credit or debit card.

Alternatively, users can also recharge FASTags via UPI on ‘My FASTag App’. My FASTag App is easily available on Android Play Store, however, it is foreseen that an iOS version will be available soon.

For NHAI FASTag, it is important to know that NHAI FASTags linked to a bank account via ‘My FASTag App’ get topped up automatically once the balance falls below a minimum threshold amount. The amount for automatic FASTag recharge can be set by the user for providing standing instruction while linking the tag with the respective bank account.

How do I link my FASTag to my bank account?

Here is an easy step-by-step guide to link your FASTag to your bank account:

    1. Download ‘My FASTag App’ from the Playstore
    2. Visit payments option in app
    3. Choose the 2nd option “Want to link your NHAI FASTag to your Bank account?”
    4. Enter your vehicle registration number without any space
    5. Click on the “Proceed” button
    6. Enter OTP received on your registered mobile and click on the “submit” button
    7. Select your preferred Bank account from the dropdown
    8. Click on “Link with your bank account”
    9. A Bank link page will open, register yourself using your account credentials.
    10. Your FASTag is now linked with your choice of Bank account, to enable hassle-free online FASTag transactions

Alternatively, various Android and iOS apps have been launched by Google Pay India to support FASTag accounts via the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) facility. The apps allow users to link their FASTag accounts for payment, recharge, and other related purposes.

How do I connect my FASTag number to my car?

At the time of FASTag purchase online or from a POS terminal, FASTag is not linked to any particular bank. The user can activate FASTag online by entering their vehicle details in the ‘My FASTag App’. Also, the user can link the FASTag with their existing bank accounts via the app.

My FASTag App can be downloaded from Playstore by android users while iOS users can download the same from the Apple store.

Users can use the NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) Prepaid wallet facility available in the ‘My FASTag App’ to recharge FASTag and pay toll charges using it instead of paying it from their bank account. My FASTag wallet allows an amount limit of INR 20,000 and INR 1,00,000 for full KYC Customers.

How do I log into the FASTag portal?

Users can tap to ‘Log on to Bank Portal ‘option in ‘My FASTag App’ and select your FASTag issuer. A new window will open; provide login credentials to access your login portal. If you have forgotten your username & password, retrieve the same by clicking on forgot user name or forgot password option or connecting to customer service support.
