A PAN Card is a crucial document for a taxpayer. It is a laminated card that displays the 10-digit alphanumeric Permanent Account Number (PAN) of an individual or an entity, issued by the Income Tax Department (I-T), Government of India. A PAN card is required when carrying out any kind of financial transaction in India such as filing of income tax returns, buying or selling property, investing in securities, availing banking facility and Forex services, etc. The PAN is a unique identity number and remains unchanged during the lifetime of the PAN card holder. However, there might be situations arising like damage or loss of original PAN card, which then requires the Duplicate PAN card to be re-issued to the PAN holder.
